Committee to Re-Elect Nancy Schultz Voots Experience, Integrity, Trust for a growing Will
County Voots runs unopposed in her 2006 Re-Election Campaign for Office of Will County Clerk
It’s been an honor to serve our community over the last four years as your Will County Clerk. Since I’m running unopposed for a second term in the November 7th General Election and won’t be featured in the newspaper candidate profiles, I thought I would let you know what I’ve been doing for the last four years as your clerk and what my staff and I intend to do during my second term. I was originally hired by the late County Clerk Clara Hartley Woodard back in 1975 while still in high school and have worked in the clerk’s office ever since administering or helping to administer every federal, state, and local election. It’s critical the public trusts the election process and I’m happy to be able to continue the long tradition of high integrity and fair service to all parties that the public has come to expect of the Will County Clerk's Office. Many changes have occurred in the office over the last four years to meet the federally mandated requirements of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) including a new election system that detects voter errors (over votes). Some accomplishments of my first term in office include:
Serving the fastest growing county in Illinois is an exciting challenge and the clerk’s office staff is constantly reviewing and updating office systems, processes, and procedures to meet the needs of those we serve. Besides being the Chief Election Official for the County, the clerk is also responsible for 5 other major functional areas including Keeper of the County Records and Clerk of the County Board, Voter Registration, Tax Extension, Vital Records (birth, death, and marriage), and Marriage Licenses. When I’m re-elected clerk, I will continue my emphasis on new technology and training to further improve office efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness. I’ve recently been using my time speaking at candidate forums and community events to better educate the community about the recent changes in the election process and to help promote voter turnout. New election law makes it easier to vote and I’ve been working to get the word out about “Early Voting” and “Grace Period Voting”. If you cannot go to the polls on Election Day you can now vote early at the County Clerk’s office at 302 N. Chicago Street in Joliet or call the office and we can direct you to a facility closer to your home. We’re also placing more emphasis on voter education by including helpful tips in our voter information guide and steps a voter can take to verify they receive the correct ballot at their polling place. I believe it’s important we continue to improve the voting process and encourage participation. For more information please visit the “What’s New” section of our office web site at www.willclrk.com or call my office at 815-740. 4616. Finally, I like to say I really do love my job as your clerk and consider it an honor and pleasure to serve you. I’d like to thank my wonderful staff, our over 3000 election judges, businesses and facilities that let us use their buildings for polling places, and the voters and community for their support of my candidacy. Please remember to exercise your right and vote on November 7th. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. Just “Darken the Oval”. Sincerely, Nancy Schultz Voots Will County Clerk Voots Announces her 2006 Re-Election Campaign for Office of Will County Clerk"I'd like to announce that I am seeking re-election to the Office of Will County Clerk in 2006.
